# Add Income - Advance Payment Category (Initial payment) for Short Term Rentals

Please add an Income category to account for advance payments (initial payments) for Short Term Rentals. We run a seasonal short-term rental business and nearly 90% of my bookings involve tenants advancing 50% of the rent in advance of the Actual Rental Period. And nearly 50% of this rental income is not recognized Revenue until the following year or actual year of the rental period.

For example in November thru December of 2020, I will log $75,000 in advance payments transactions before the actual rent is recognized and earned.

Hi I authorized this suggestion about 3 years ago! And haven’t seen any response or better an additional category added. Can you advise how best to handle this besides moving on to a more responsive software solution? I’ve been quite patient. Thank you.
