I have a transaction I need to categorize properly which is a loan from another business which I also own. How do I categorize this in Stessa?
@jrice.apps Not to discourage you but you are beginning to step outside the capabilities of Stessa. Best I can suggest is to use “Other Loan Payment”. Who the owner is, isn’t relevant. Business “A” is making a loan payment, that is as advanced as Stessa gets being a single-entry accounting software.
Hope that helps.

What did you decide to do for this? We currently are using a HELOC to finance a kitchen remodel in our Airbnb. My husband also regularly gets debit cards and businesses confused, so I’m regularly reimbursing from one entity to another. The easiest way that I’ve found to keep that mess contained is to use the Income>Tenant Pass Through category. I’m open to a better solution, though.
@jurassictutu I’m making this suggestion based upon what you wrote and not seeing the whole picture. I’d discourage using Income > Tenant Pass Through as each time you pass money from one business to another, you’re recording income. It appears to me that you are more accurately transferring money - taking money from Business A as an an owner’s distribution and moving it to Business B as an owner’s contribution. This would be 2 transactions, each time - one positive, one negative.
Efforts may want to be spent on assisting your husband to keep the cards straight. I personally use a label maker and tag each credit card - front and back - to write key words on them.
