Custom categories for income, expenses, and pro forma

There are infinite use-cases and it would lead to the Reports being far more useful.

I wish Stessa would let us add custom categories. Is that possible for you to create?

Not at this time. However, there are many people on this forum that are requesting custom categories. Perhaps this is something Stessa is working on, although they’ve made it clear in the past they don’t plan to offer that functionality.

Can somebody from Stessa let us know if we will ever be able to create user-defined categories or sub-categories? Even in just the Transfer category, having some custom sub-categories would be super helpful.

Agreed. Could we get a new category called something like “Non-Capitalized Supplies?” As an STR owner, it would be nice to buy small appliances or furniture, books etc for our rental and have a place to put them. We’re open to recommendations in terms of how to handle this in the interim.

Yes, add new or edit existing would be great!!! Like what quicken and mint can do.

I agree. I want to be able to create/label a Reserve for Repairs (which eventually hopefully will have enough cash that I don’t have to use a credit card). And a general reserve.

Is there a way to add custom categories? I need to add a category for a new foundation. But there is no suitable category currently.

It would be great if we can create additional categories on top of the predifined list.

First time user today. Came to the form to look this up.
I will not buy this software (200+ properties) until they implement custom categories.
I should be able to put a document in my own “Misc - Office Expenses” if I’d like to.

No it hasn’t. People have been asking for this for a long time.
It’s a shame that we don’t have access to something seemingly so simple (edit categories).
We should not be forced to use their pre-defined categories in a business as complex as Real Estate.

Stessa hasn’t even replied to acknowledge “good idea!” or “we’ll consider that!”. Will post an update when I find a competitor that offers this.

Yes, please add more category choices, it would be ideal to have custom options. I like the idea of have defaults for non advanced users; however, it would be so much easier for taxes to have other parts of the business allocated properly. such as vehicle expenses, and supplies.
