Split error, can't save when original is negative (expense) and split shows positive (income)

I am trying to do a split and I get the error Original transaction is $700.00, but the total of the splits is $700.00.

And I can’t save the split. Screenshot below.

Disregard. I figured it out that I didn’t have the negative sign in front of the split transactions.

Yes, the Split feature is designed to not allow expenses to be inadvertently converted to income.

If you do at some point want to change the sign of an expense AND split it, just change the sign first in the Transactions ledger and then click the “Split” button.
