The new transaction page isn’t improving using experience. The split transaction page now hanging on the side of the page makes it very hard to work with. I wish it could stay in the center of the page. The ‘red flag’ function is a great add up though.
Hi there, I’m a product manager here at Stessa and I’m sorry to hear that the split feature isn’t working for you.
There’s a known issue with splitting transactions taking a long time. This is because of how we handle and store the attachments when creating the additional transactions. The team is working on this though I don’t have an ETA for a fix.
In the meantime, I’m glad you like the flagging functionality. We’ll be adding more new functionality over the next few weeks.
The splitting transactions is a real pain in the ass right now, goes into an endless loop, not pleased
I do not understand what happened with the SPLIT functionality. It used to work great they way it was. The main issue is that it simply has NOT worked for several months. I cannot SPLIT any transaction because when attempting to do it, I hit SAVE and it goes into an endless SPINNING loop. As a result, you have to hit cancel after wasting time splitting the amount. Also, agreed with previous comments, why put it on the side instead of the middle of the screen the way it used to be. In summary, get it fixed and let us know when the fix is in place so that one DOES not waste time trying to use a functionality that is not there.
I haven’t had problems with the split function not working properly, but I do think the split feature could use some adjusting. I don’t like that it auto fills the split amount. When splitting a manually added transaction (sometimes I add payments/withdrawals/etc ahead of time so I don’t forget what they are once Stessa syncs with my bank) I should be able to change the original transaction amount even if I’m on the split transaction screen. For example, I paid via check for lawn mowing. I accidentally typed in $210 instead of $220. When I remembered I needed to split the transaction bc the payment covered two properties, I wasn’t allowed to change the total amount to $220…if this was a transaction synced from my bank, I would completely understand, but it manually entered.
Would love it if when a transaction is Split it would still be searchable by the total transaction amount, AND the splits would fall into a subcategory underneith it…
For instance:
Transaction: Mortgage Payment, $1000.00
Instead of that disappearing after the split to show:
Escrow Contribution: $300
Principle: $300
Interest: $400
It would be great if it would show up like this:
Mortgage Payment: $1000
Escrow Contributions: $300
Principle Payment: $300
Interest Payment: $400.
So that the total payment amount is still trackable and tied with the breakdown of where that payment went. I am drawing from my love of YNAB budgeting software, which does this flawlessly in my personal finances.
@thetrujillopropertie Thank you for the feedback. I’ll be sure to pass this along to our dev team for future updates.
My main complaint since moving over to the new UI is that I can no longer split a transaction by percentage! I have one quadplex property and need to split each transaction by percentage based on the square footage of each unit. The previous UI made this super easy - you just needed to type something like “10%” in the numeric field and it would automatically apply the percentage. Please, please, please bring that feature back and/or allow users to switch back to the old UI until that feature is added to the new UI.
@beaunarragon We’re actively working on improvements—thank you for hanging in there with us!
We agree searching and showing the original amount is important.
Splitting via percentage also has alot of benefits and some transactions being split will always be a percentage
