Hello, I’m new to Stessa. I have Short term rentals that pay my LLC via PayPal. Since I use my main business checking for other properties which are not in my SRT portfolio, I decided to import the data from PayPal via a CSV file. I watched Devan’s video, so I understand that the format has to be precise to upload. I have my properties named exactly like they are in Stessa but it keeps erroring out saying it doesn’t recognize the property name. I have a few entries that don’t have property names because they are general in nature. Any idea what is the cause of this issue or how to resolve it?

For anyone else receiving this same error:
I was receiving the same error from my csv file import attemps- Property Name not recognized. It seems to have broken sometime in the last 2 weeks, because 2 weeks ago, I had a successful import, this week, I get the property error. I even tried using the same file that was successful 2 weeks ago and that didn’t work either.
Fast forward, I tried several different combinations of the drop-downs on the import page and if I select “Not/Sure Multiple Properties” in the “Assign to Properties” drop-down, it works and then assigns the transaction to the correct property listed in the property column of my csv.
I suspect Stessa updates their code without proper unit testing, so that different features randomly break. I like Stessa, and have been using it for many years, but these random issues will drive me to a different solution. There doesn’t seem to be a way contact support directly and they removed chat support… not good.

This solved the issue of not being able to import.- I had to select “Not/Sure Multiple Properties” in the “Assign to Properties” drop-down.
Second Issue Stessa doesn’t seem to recognize the first lineitem, the final lineitem, and instances where you have a positive and a negative to the same amount in the same month. I was reading through other forum posts and saw that Stessa will NOT allow you to upload a sheet with only incomes; I was trying to upload a year’s worth of data of rental payments but I had to include one negative dummy lineitem for Stessa to accept the .csv.
This is the worst, “buggiest”, most frustrating software I’ve used. Nothing works like it’s supposed to and workarounds like this are ridiculous. Thanks for posting this as I could not get a simple file to import when everything matches perfectly. So frustrating. Looking for other solutions because this company is just getting worse with their software and support.
