I did the same thing in an effort to get my money out more easily (ordered paper checks with the routing and account numbers). The check was returned with insufficient funds (even though there were funds). I received an email from Stessa telling me that the bank does not allow paper checks to be used on these accounts. It’s very frustrating to have your money “in jail” like this. The only good option is to get it out with wires (expensive) or with daily $1500 transfers (time consuming). Not good!
Yes, they get declined. I know first hand.
Yeah!
I have sooo many useless checks now.
Hopefully they change to allow for it. I’d manage everything through Stessa if they did, but now I don’t use it at all.
YES! Please add ZELLE!
I wholeheartedly second this! My landscaper and cleaning service both accept payment through Zelle and not through debit/credit card.
Shoot. wish I had seen this before I ordered those checks lol
Yes, this will be very helpful
This is my vote to add bill pay and/or physical checks!
Yes, please add bill pay and check writing ability. I pay a lot of vendors via credit card, but some only accept checks. I am considering switching over from a mainstream bank, but until bill pay and check writing are available, it’s not worth switching, even with the tempting 4.55% APY on the Pro account.
Supporting Zelle would get me to upgrade to Pro and switch to the Stessa bank accounts.
Still waiting on this as well. Support told me last year that it was in the works but no change. Bill pay and/or ACH pay is what is keeping us from moving our funds to this account.
Adding my vote for bill pay!
I wouldn’t call myself a Cash Management expert but have been using 3 accounts for 3 properties for about 3 months now. It seems to work well, although somewhat limited. All of my HOAs (6) offer ACH payments, and our 3 mortgage companies also embrace ACH. Additionally, with virtual and physical debit cards that, too, helps. However, there definitely is a lacking in paying ad hoc services, such as a handyman, or other small business operation without the ability to do a check, bill pay, or digital payment such as Zelle or Venmo. As a result, I also, am keeping an external checking account to handle these expenses. Until Stessa offers these services in their Cash Management accounts I will have to continue this extra layer of complexity.
Not having bill pay and paper checks is a HUGE problem… how do I pay the handy man??
Could we have someone from Stessa chime in here and give us an update as to whether or not this feature is ever going to be added? It seems like a very basic/normal service for business banking.
I also have to have a separate bank account that can issue and work with checks
@slockwood - I use my accounts for Venmo since you just connect the bank account. you need to go through the manual process of doing deposits but Venmo is working great. Zelle on the other hand would be very nice to have and definitely need billpay for city services and other things that don’t accept epayments
@devin - can we get some idea of ETA for Billpay and Zelle features?
There are some lengthy threads about both and I know they’re in works but it would be nice to have some sort of an idea on timeline… will it happen this quarter, year, beyond?
I’ve taken the plunge and am attempting to use Stessa PRO as our primary banking but unfortunately without billpay and Zelle I can’t pay the city, contractors, and others that I need to pay ad hoc and on a recurring basis.
Venmo does work as an electronic payment service but unfortunately not everyone takes it.
I’m having the same issues, banks wont link or update. I’ve reached out to customer service was given the same response. Unfortunately we just switched to Pro this year, so i’m not very impressed.
I agree
I also have ran into lots of issues with only being able to pay $1500 per day. I had to pay my contractor for a bathroom remodel and I couldnt!
